Majestic Announces NEW Gateway Series Mallet Instruments

Majestic Percussion is proud to introduce the new Gateway series of mallet instruments.

These innovative new models are designed to provide a modular system of performance quality xylophones and marimbas to young percussionists. Each model can be purchased as a full kit including resonators and stand, or by component so that resonators can be added at a later date for performance applications.

The X4525DR is a 2.5 octave padauk bar xylophone with a lightweight aluminum frame, making it easily transportable in an optional backpack-style case.  It includes an x-style folding stand and is also available without resonators as the X4525D.

The X5535DR 3.5 octave padauk bar xylophone has a lightweight aluminum frame and comes complete with a Z-Style stand.  Its full concert range allows for practice and performance of most xylophone literature.  This model can also be purchased without resonators as the X5535D. An add-on wheel accessory and wheeled carrying bag are also available.

The M5533DR 3.3 octave padauk bar marimba rounds out the Gateway lineup by providing wide bar geometry and a range down to A2.  These features help facilitate meaningful practice of all mallet techniques and allow access to a myriad of marimba literature.  The marimba is also available without resonators as the M5533D. An add-on wheel accessory or carrying bags can be purchased separately.

The preview of the Gateway series at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention and the Midwest Winter Band Clinic in late 2012 created a lot of excitement among percussion educators.  “These instruments finally provide a practical opportunity for young percussionists to own a REAL mallet instrument.  The sound will inspire my students to spend more time practicing!” noted Scott Brown, Director of Percussion at Dickerson Middle School and Walton High School in Cobb County, Georgia.
